Snow Holes a Plenty!!

News from Chalet Le Dragon, La Chapelle d’Abondance

Snow is still falling in La Chapelle d’Abondance. Well over 6 inches has fallen today alone.

After clearing the driveway twice over, we have spent the afternoon building our own versions of Igloos!! See the photos of Luke in his!! He is now well versed in mountain survival and snow holes!!

La Chapelle d’Abondance, Chatel, Morzine, Avoriaz and Abondance have all received well over 30cms of fresh snow (and still falling) and seen temperatures drop well below minus 10 degrees during the day!!

Have you booked you ski trip yet for this season? If not, rooms are filling up throughout the Portes du Soleil as the expectation is now rising for a superb ski season ahead.

One option to consider is Chalet Le Dragon – Cosy and friendly, family run accommodation with easy access to the exhilarating Portes du Soleil ski area via the gondola opposite the chalet.

Just over an hour from Geneva, set in the delightful village of La Chapelle d’Abondance, the chalet offers you easy access to the truly fabulous, Portes du Soleil - a large region of the Alps encompassing thirteen resorts between Mont Blanc in France and Lake Geneva in Switzerland, popular for skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking and hiking.

The region offers 650 km of marked pistes and trails and 230 lifts in total, spread over 14 valleys and 400 square miles (1036 square km).

A winter stay at Chalet Le Dragon gives you an exciting new choice everyday – take the gondola opposite the chalet up to Switzerland and join the vast Portes du Soleil area and head towards well known resorts such as Chatel, Morzine and Avoriaz.

Alternatively, you can explore La Chapelle’s own quieter ski areas “Cret Beni and Braitaz” which are ideally suited to beginners and families – the best of both worlds! There are rarely ski lift queues allowing you more time to enjoy the slopes!

We hope to see you soon,

Emma & Matt
